What is EMDR?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is famous for treating PTSD and is my go-to for working with trauma. But EMDR isn’t only useful for trauma recovery: it is proven to work for other mental health issues like anxiety, low self-worth, grief and loss, and more! EMDR helps to identify the past experiences that instilled unhelpful beliefs (like: I’m not good enough; I can’t trust anyone; or I’m a failure) that make it hard to live the life you want. EMDR then prompts the brain to reprocess those events so that the takeaway beliefs are much more useful (like: I’m ok as I am; I can trust my judgement; I can succeed) so that the way you engage with the world around you becomes much more adaptive.
